Over the years Group Eight has provided structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering services for numerous park projects.
Gore
Park Fountain
The city wanted to replace the original 1930's style
fountain that was once located in downtown Hamilton. The work included
the concrete foundation and basin, the
water supply, water sprays and night time illumination.
Gartshore
Thomson Building
A 1930's "railway style" building was donated to the City of Hamilton. The project's
engineering challenge was to move this heavy, triple brick structure along city
streets, from its original site to a new location at Pier 4 Park. The work included
building relocation, new roof, new electrical and mechanical systems, a piled
foundation, full basement area below the building suitable for a sailing school,
public washrooms and meeting rooms.
Pier 4 Tugboat
The project involved the transportation and modification of an existing decommissioned tugboat to transform it to be an integral part of a playground at Pier 4 Park. The work included relocating the tugboat, providing foundations and modifying the structure to incorporate interior/exterior designs suitable for a children's play area.

Pier 4 Park Pavilion:
Group Eight was responsible for all structural engineering services for the gazebo structure on the boardwalk/pier at Pier 4 Park. The Victorian style gazebo is comprised of galvanized H.S.S. steel sections, pre-finished metal roofs and intricate metal work. |
