New twin-pad arena and library
Group Eight Engineering Limited provided structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services on a new, design-build twin-pad arena complex that also includes a new Library, and maintenance facilities for the County's Parks Department.
The Arena portion of the 115,000 ft2 facility contains two 85' x 200' year-round ice rinks, one with seating for 1500 and the other with seating for 300. Gas-fired infrared heaters and
desiccant wheel dehumidification have been incorporated at both rinks to provide spectator comfort.
The lighting system in the Arena is provided with 1000 Watt metal halide fixtures, which are dimmable for energy conservation.
As well, a separate 2,000 ft2 Park Service Area services the County Parks Department.
The ice facility also contains 10 state-of-the-art dressing rooms, one of which serves the local Junior 'C' hockey team.
The Arena area is complete with additional office and storage spaces and training facilities.

 |
| A community Library of 12,000 ft2 is included within the complex. The Library is complete
unto itself, having its own entrance and amenities. It is pre-wired for computer networking. |
 |
| The facility was also designed to accommodate trade shows and exhibits in the larger rink and has allowance for a future aquatic centre addition. |
