Foundry expansion Wescast Industries retained the engineering services of Group Eight for the expansion of the foundry located in Wingham. Group Eight was responsible for the structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services. The undertaking included planning, design, specifications, contract administration and general site review. The foundry project included new executive offices, board room, training facilities, cafeteria, locker rooms and a main reception area. The mechanical and electrical designs incorporate a central DDC system with remote monitoring and a variable volume HVAC system that provides energy conservation; T8 lighting system was selected for providing indirect lighting and efficient energy usage; and a warm air, drying system in the new locker room facilities which operates after each shift. The construction work for the 36,000 ft2, steel framed structure was scheduled so that the daily operation of the foundry was not interrupted. |
