Addition/ renovation Town Hall

Group Eight was responsible for the structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services for the Town of Oakville's municipal building addition and renovation project. The work involved planning, design, specifications, contract administration and general site review.

The 32,000 ft² addition included: a central 2-storey atrium, an interior second level atrium bridge to access the outside, washrooms, elevators, Cafeteria, meeting rooms, separate corridor link to existing Courtrooms, and municipal business office facilities. Future expansion was incorporated into the design. This building can be expanded up to five storeys. The project also included renovation work to the existing building. The expanded facility required a new generator to meet power requirements in an emergency.

It was essential to keep the existing town hall and adjacent Courtrooms operational during construction and as such, co-ordination and scheduling of this project was planned so that the daily operation of the facility was not interrupted..
